Small but mighty: Nocilla launches Booms Rellenas, its smallest cookie yet

The way people snack has changed. Bite-sized formats, on-the-go convenience, something to share without committing to a full pack: people snack less by the clock and more by the moment, and the products they reach for are changing accordingly.

Nocilla, the Spanish cocoa&hazelnut spread brand made by Idilia Foods, has been going in this direction for a while. The brand first entered the biscuit category in 2021 with its Cookies range, a spread-filled cookie that quickly became one of Spain’s most successful food innovations of recent years, recognised by NielsenIQ as a Breakthrough Innovation in 2025. The logical next move was smaller. Much smaller.

May 2026 sees the launch of Nocilla Booms Rellenas: the first mini spread- filled cookie on the market.

What makes Booms Rellenas different

Booms Rellenas are tiny, button-shaped cookies, roughly one third the size of Nocilla’s existing Mini Cookies, with a 50% filling of Nocilla’s signature cocoa&hazelnut spread. Crispy on the outside, creamy within, and gone in a single bite.

That filling ratio is what sets them apart. The spread is the point, and the cookie exists to deliver it: a logic reflected in the smooth, rounded shape, without chips or anything else, designed to maximise every mouthful. No comparable filled cookie of this size currently exists on the market.

The 100g bag contains around 34 individual cookies, designed to be shared or to last across a few snacking occasions: at home, at a desk, or on-the-go.

A brand built on spread

For those new to Nocilla, the brand has spent over 50 years as Spain’s best-loved cocoa&hazelnut spread. Its move into biscuits has followed the same principle throughout: the spread is always the anchor. Cookies, mini cookies, and now Booms Rellenas are each a new way to experience the same thing people already love.

That continuity is what gives a launch like this its commercial footing. Nocilla’s Cookies range has grown consistently since 2021, and Booms Rellenas adds a genuinely new occasion to the portfolio: more spontaneous, more shareable, and reaching a slightly different consumer. Data shows Nocilla’s minis draw a notably higher share of young adults compared to competitors in the category, which tend to skew towards family households.

The bigger picture

Booms Rellenas is the latest step in Idilia Foods’ broader approach: using the Nocilla brand to enter new categories and formats without losing what made it relevant in the first place. For anyone watching the European snacking space, it’s a launch worth paying attention to. A familiar brand, a proven category, and a product that didn’t exist before.
